Please let me introduce myself, I am Sheila D. Farmer, a licensed professional realtor. I have been with United Real Estate – Horizon located in Warrenton, Virginia since I received my license in 2014, and could have not found a better or more honorable company for which to work for and with. I gained knowledge and passion in real estate from my parents, Bill and Pauline. I watched my parents work together to remodel a 1900’s farm house. This was a true fixer-upper! If you ever saw an episode of This Old House, those homes were mansions in comparison. My parents had a vision, a dream; a home to raise me and my siblings, a place for family gatherings with grandchildren, grandparents, family and friends. I saw my parent’s labors of love, they worked day-in and day-out, nights and weekends, for what is now their “forever” home. It took them 4 long years to complete the “forever” home, or should I say, complete enough for the final inspection for move in! It’s is still a labor of love, but we all love that home made out of love and passion. They had a dream, and I am blessed to say, my parents and all who visit, still enjoy the family home to this day! I have wonderful memories of growing up in the home, the neighborhood, and thank you, Mom and Dad, for your passion, respect, love, and especially for working so hard to provide unconditionally for your family! You may wonder why it took 4 years to renovate the home. My parents found the home on a Sunday afternoon ride. In my childhood days, that’s what we, as a family did on Sunday's after church. We would go for ice cream and a family drive. Mom spotted it and said “stop, this is it”, and the rest is history. I remember a shell of a house, no plumbing, no electricity, a dirt floor basement, 6 fireplaces, and a lovely stream, and lots and lots of trees, with bees, snakes, and other critters residing in the house. Thank goodness for the fireplaces during the “fixer – up” period. I recall spending many a weekend as a child, getting warm by the fire while waiting for my parents to finish their day’s labor of love. After we moved in, they kept the honey bees for many years before moving them out in the field to their own home (hive), and I recall we didn't play on "bee" side of the house for fear of the bees, but Dad loved the honey. My professional background is in local government, and the public school system in Virginia. I have worked in Purchasing and Risk Management with human resource experience for over 27 years of public service.
